1997-1998

Picture Collection

APRIL 19, 1997 - Theater: New Directors Workshop featuring the plays Haiku and A Visitor from Forest Hills.

MAY 23, 1997 - Live Music: Asuza Plane, Asteroid #4, and Fuxa.

JUNE 13, 1997 - Theater: Opening Night of the play Moonchildren, directed by Jerry Rudasill. This was the first production to use the newly completed stage.

JUNE 14, 1997 - Live Music and Theater: Moochildren, followed by spontaneous band party featuring Bellevue and Lexicon, who wanted to try out the new stage. The stage survived.

JUNE 28, 1997 - Live Music: featuring Grady, Bellevue and Lexicon.

JULY 26, 1997 - Live Music: featuring Lainmeyers, Peachfist, and Bellevue.

AUGUST 16, 1997 - Live Music: Mike Schleigh's 21st Birthday Party featuring Lexicon, 5000 Deep, and EDO. This historic event marked the debut of Pilam's very own PA system.

SEPTEMBER 12, 1997 - Live Music: Delta 72, Lexicon, and Jettison Flammable. Halfway through Jettison Flammable's set, both of our brand new PA speakers blew up - that's how loud they were!

OCTOBER 25, 1997 - Live Music: Stinking Lizaveta, Fathead and Brother From Another. There's just something about Black Cherry Wishniak and moshing to Stinking Liz on a cool fall evening that warms the heart.

NOVEMBER 1, 1997 - Live Music: Leroy and 5000 Deep. A post-halloween bash featuring dry ice, Jedi Knights, and lots of other nifty Halloween things.

NOVEMBER 14, 1997 - Live Music: Clock Strikes Thirteen and Reizoko. Early technical problems left the opening band stranded in New Jersey and Pilam's swanky vocal mic inoperative, but the evening was still a success, as Reizoko (complete with two Splendorbin alums) put on a show about as loud as the equipment could handle.

NOVEMBER 14 & 15, 1997 - Theater: Fat Men in Skirts Directed by Victoria Kotnik. A play awash in cannibalism and incest, Vicki's production featured an extremely talented cast and crew which entertained all in attendance thouroughly.

NOVEMBER 22, 1997 - Live Music: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL BENEFIT - Back Ali Rhythm, The Lainmeyers, Overlord and Rational Thought Destructor. A lot of fun was had and a lot of money was raised in the name of Human Rights. This show also saw the Pilam debut of live electronic music.

DECEMBER 6, 1997 - Live Music: Lynnfield Pioneers, Caterpillar, and Lexicon. The End-of-the-Semester event featured the triumphant return of Lexicon, yet another bunch or rock stars spawned from deep within the bowels of Pilam...

FEBRUARY 6, 1998 - Live Music: WXPN RECORDING SESSION: Bardo Pond and Krakatoa. Video didn't kill the radio star, because it was already dead!

FEBRUARY 7, 1998 - Live Music: Emory Swank, LazyCain and Peachfist. In one of the best shows Pilam has ever seen, the music was loud, the pace was fast, the crowd was moshing, Allen Lazur was free, and Amaury was naked.

FEBRUARY 27, 1998 - Live Music: "BENEFIT FOR CHRIS SHEPERD OF BELLEVUE" The Hudells, Eva Haze, and Bleach. In spite of a Pilam constitutional ban on cover bands, some chick who knows Bellevue or something inflicted a Nirvana cover band on the house. Later when another band was in the middle of a series of covers the power to the stage mysteriously blew out.

FEBRUARY 28, 1998 - Live Music: WXPN RECORDING SESSION: Stinking Lizaveta and New Ghost. In stark contrast to the previous evening, this radio taping featured incredible performances on the part of both Stinking Lizaveta, a traditional Pilam favorite, and the New Ghosts, who delivered an inspired jazz set.

MARCH 27, 1998 - Live Music: Destroyer, Sarcastic Horse, EDO and Lexicon. EDO was successfully badgered into playing "I Saw Alex's Pee Pee," and much fun was had!

APRIL 4, 1998 - 20th Annual Human BBQFeaturing Sarcastic Horse, The Merkins, Lexicon, Peachfist, Jettison Flammable, Emory Swank, Asteroid #4, Syrup USA, Reizoko, Brother JT & Vibrolux, Caterpillar, Bevis Frond, Bellevue, Tono Bungay, LazyCain, Lockgroove, and Stinking Lizaveta. click here to see the original poster.
